How You Can Contribute
HOW CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE TO COMMUNITIES THAT CARE®?
Community members play an important role in the Communities That Care® process and they can offer support by:
- Learning about the risk and protection-focused approach to youth development and becoming familiar with locally identified risk and protective factors
- Contributing to the community vision
- Identifying ways to promote healthy beliefs, clear standards, and strong bonds between young people and adults in families, neighborhoods, workplaces and other areas of the community
- Helping young people develop skills to contribute to and be meaningfully involved in their families, schools, neighborhoods and other areas of the community
- Recognizing and rewarding young people for positive involvement and contributions
- Identifying ways to reduce risk factors in families, neighborhoods, workplaces and other areas of the community
- Supporting laws and policies that promote the healthy development of young people
- Communicating the importance of support for youth development to key community leaders and policy makers
- Joining the Centre County Communities That Care® Prevention Board and an advisory committee
