Our MISSION is to assess the risk and protective factors impacting local youth and to implement research-based programming to promote positive youth development.

Our VISION for our communities is that there will be places where all children are safe, connected to others, encouraged to learn and explore their world, and supported by a web of concerned adults.  Our communities will have gathering places, where people of all ages learn, play, and meet with each other.  All adults in our communities will be accountable and share responsibility for nurturing, educating, and supporting our children, our families, and each other.

Centre County Communities That Care® is part of a national prevention process under which communities evaluate the risks that affect the healthy development of youth and implement research-based programs to diminish those risks.  The GOAL is to reduce:

• substance abuse
• teen pregnancy
• school dropout
• delinquency
• violence
• depression and anxiety
